I think I'm getting the hang of this. Got some pics up anyway. Edited my profile. See if I can get cracking on some killer content. Yeah. Right.

Waiting Game

Interviews are over. I've submitted my ranked list. Now I just wait until Friday to see if I got a spot. If so, I find out a week from today where it is. Everyone seems to think I should be nervous and anxious about this, but really, I'm very calm. I figure: I've done all I can. I'll end up going to a place that wanted me, or I'll have an extra year to finish my dissertation and become a better internship candidate. And to play. That definately has some appeal.

Anyway, I ended up not liking the Northwestern program. I liked Boston Medical Center a lot better. We'll see where I end up. I liked Boston better than Chicago too.

I'll keep you posted.

Chicago

I sit in my hotel room in the windy city at 5:30 pm on a Sunday. I spent five hours at church in Hyde Park. Wouldn't you know it? I met someone at the singles ward that I know...kind of. She knew me is a better way of putting it. It was the former roommate and friend of one of my former girlfriends. I guess they are everywhere. I only met her once a few years ago, but she came up to me after sunday school and introduced herself. She seemed to know an amazing amount about me. I vaguely remember her. Interesting how that happens. Anyway, I figured that I was going to be bored tonight, so I asked her to show me around town if she gets off of work at a reasonable time. That should be interesting.

Well, I don't want to be windy just because I'm in Chicago, but I am kind of proud of myself. I bought a bunch of food last night to last through today, and one thing was a cup of noodles. After church, I took the filter holder and pot out of the coffee machine and put my cup of noodles under it. Shazaam. Instant hot water and hot dinner. Not bad, eh? Yeah, I'm cool. What can I say?

So tomorrow is the big internship interview at Northwestern Medical School. I should have prepared more by reading up on stuff. I'm sure it will be more grueling than the nice little social event they had at the University of Missouri on friday. I have to admit, I like Chicago better than Columbia. I'd rather live here. We'll see what happens. Wish me luck.

Ciao.

Message the first

Second attempt at blogging. I hope I have something better to say this time.

I'm in the process of trying to arrange data collection for my dissertation. It seems that sending out an email to a list-serve with people running groups has been far more productive than having my professors call people to recruit. My professors get agreement from their contacts, but then when I contact them, nothing happens. So we'll see if things happen with the people who volunteer for the project off of our email on the list-serve. That is an interesting distinction and I think I will write about it more when I am not in a hurry to get some work done on it.

Ciao for now.
